The main attraction of this tour is the great Giants Causeway. As a result of a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago, there are over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns at this unique site. It was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1986 and is one of Ireland's most visited natural wonders. Feel as though you've stepped back in time as you witness this incredible natural phenomenon. The Giants Causeway also has a special place in Irish mythology. The story of the giant, Finn MacCool, building a walkway to Scotland gives the Giants Causeway its name. Many of the rock formations are also named to fit in with the legend such as the Giants boot, the Chair and the Giants gate. You can walk across these ancient basalt columns yourself when you visit the Giants Causeway.
